Wedding Traditions in India - Indian weddings are renowned world wide for the traditions and customs that are followed throughout the wedding. India is a land of varied culture and traditions and same is reflected in the way weddings are solemnized. The Indian wedding traditions vary from religion and region; the diversity that could be seen across the length and breadth of the country. On the wedding day there are many traditions and rituals that are namely Barat Nikasi, Var Mala, Aarti, Gathbandhan, Kanya Dan, Laja Homa, Circumambulation, Blessings and Vidaai. Laja Homa and Circumambulation are an important part of any Indian Wedding and is known as ‘phere’. The groom and bride circle the holy fire seven times and make seven promises to be fulfilled in the married life. The post wedding rituals are Dwar-Rokai, Griha Pravesh and Mooh Dikhai. Each of the ritual has an important significance in the whole wedding. These are some of the common customs and are carried out in detail, total faith and dedication.
